A completed Bachelor in a discipline such as photography, animation, audiovisual design, fine art or graphic design is required.
English is our working language, and proficiency in both speaking and writing is a necessity.

Your application should include:

- resume
- certified copy of Bachelor diploma (with a certified English translation if your diploma is not in Dutch, English, German, Spanish, Italian or French)

The selection is made on the basis of the visual documentation supplied and the motivation statement. Candidates in the Netherlands may be invited for an interview; candidates from abroad may be interviewed via email or Skype.
Please note that applications should be in English.
English language test
All international students need to prove their proficiency in English. To do so, they are required to take one of the following English language tests and add the (positive) results to their application:
- IELTS at level 6.5 (academic)
- TOEFL paper based test at level 575
- TOEFL computer based test at level 232
- TOEFL internet-based test at level 90
Please note: arranging one of these English language tests can take up to several weeks. We strongly advise our students to take the test as early as possible, but at the latest on March 1st 2012. We do not accept applications without the positive results of one of these English tests.
TOEFL and IELTS test scores are valid for two years.
Students will have to arrange and pay for the test themselves. If the student’s first language is English, he/she will be exempt from providing an English language test score. A student is being considered to be a native speaker of English if they are from Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, UK, USA or South Africa and the language in which they gained their Bachelor diploma was English.
Since students from outside the EU will need sufficient time to apply for entry visa (MVV) and make other official arrangements to be able to study in the Netherlands, they are required to apply before May 1. For more information on the visa procedures, see the Foreign Students page on the Rotterdam University website.
Each year, the Master Media Design & Communication: Lens-Based programme accepts approximately 10 students for the full-time course.
