Gabriel Lester’s practice includes installations, performances and film and video works which often express his preoccupation with the illusions of theatre and cinema. He creates a subtle play between the pictorial and the sculptural, emphasising different aspects of the theatrical experience – action, mood and location.

Gabriel Lester lives and works in Amsterdam. He studied audiovisual arts at the St. Joost Academy in Breda (The Netherlands), experimental cinema at the St.-Lukas Academy in Brussels (Belgium), and fine art at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam. Lester has had residencies at IASPIS in Stockholm and ISCP in New York. He has presented recent solo exhibitions with Z33, Hasselt, Kiosk, Gent, IBID Projects London, GB Agency Paris, Bloomberg Space, London and Gallery Fons Welters, Amsterdam. He has an upcoming solo exhibition in 2011 at Boijmans van Beuningen.
