Mike Sperlinger is Assistant Director of LUX, an agency for artists’ film and video based in London. As a freelance writer, he has written for magazines and journals including frieze, Art Monthly, Radical Philosophy and Afterall. Other recent writings include catalogue texts for Mark Aerial Waller (CSW Ujazdowski Castle, 2008), Keith Arnatt (Henry Moore Institute, 2009) and the group show Terms of Use (Montehermoso Cultural Center, 2008). He is the editor of two books – Afterthought: New Writing on Conceptual Art (Rachmaninoffs, 2005) and Kinomuseum: Towards An Artists’ Cinema (Kuzfilmtage Oberhausen, 2008) – and he recently curated the show Let’s Take Back Our Space (2009) at Focal Point Gallery, Southend. He holds an MA in Aesthetics & Art Theory from Middlesex University and in 2006-7 he was a Helena Rubinstein Curatorial Fellow at the Whitney Independent Study Program in New York.
