Esperanza Rosales is a writer from New York whose practice spans the fields of writing, curating and exhibition-making, as well as other non-academic forms of engagement including literature, ‘edited’ text, and the writing of dialogues and scripts.
From 2009 – 2011, she was the Director of dépendance gallery in Brussels where she organized exhibitions of new work by Linder, Josef Strau, Nicholas Byrne & Nora Schultz, as well as the group exhibition ‘Novel.’ In 2011, she initiated ‘Nobody Can Tell the Why of It’ an exhibition developed in close collaboration with artists Timothy Furey, Nicholas Byrne, Nick Mauss, Ken Okiishi and Josef Strau at 1857 in Oslo, as an occasion to enter into conversation and as a vehicle to produce new work.
Esperanza’s writing has appeared in several publications including Mousse and Frieze and her essays, including ’The Indolent Artist’ and ’Truman’s Hand’ can be found in books by Sternberg Press, Witte de With publishers, and the journal F.R. David.
She is currently working on her first novel.
