Born 1979, Switzerland; currently living and working in Rotterdam and Zurich. Heusser graduated in Fine Arts at the University of Design and Art in Zurich and received the promotion prize. In 2003, she also studied Animation at the Royal Academy for Fine Arts in Ghent, Belgium. Currently, she is participant in the Master Fine Art Programme at the Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam (2007-2009).
Heusser pursues a performative practice with means which range from collage to industrial processes. She is interested in the preconceptions towards gender and femininity and how their habitually stiffened chains of association can be altered. She treats any kind of surface as sites of performance; researching the power of attraction and repulsion that an artwork can have in relation to the spectator, she frequently sets a backdrop and frames her own stage to perform.
Recent works in 2009 include: PEEP SHOW, a performance at Wolfart Project Space in Rotterdam, PEEK SHOW, a video work; Fresh Pear, wax and other objects in a box, P800 and Ad, collages presented in the group show Press harder at De Player, Rotterdam; in 2008: two installations in shop windows of Switzerland, LA in Lausanne and Boutique in Zug; Carrie, a performance and an installation at the artist-run space exex in St. Gallen, Switzerland.
Currently, she is working on a spatial collage that will be exhibited in July at TENT, Rotterdam.
