Susana Pedrosa was born in 1983, Coimbra, Portugal.
She is currently undertaking an MFA at Piet Zwart Institute, in Rotterdam, with the support of Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. In 2006 Susana Pedrosa finished her degree in Fine Arts by the University of Porto – Faculty of Fine Arts. Between 2006 and 2008 she attended the Independent Study Program at Maumaus – School of Visual Arts in Lisbon.
In her work, she creates a space of social relations, where she intends to find how encounters normally happen and how could they happen in a different way from the ones we know. She identifies patterns and interrupts them in order to find another possibility of relating. She explores rhythms of social dynamics through duration, repetition (that produces difference), variation and intensity.
Recent exhibitions include the Kaunas Photo Festival: Portuguese / Brazilian nights of photography, Kaunas, Lithuania in 2010, Bes Revelação 2009 Award, at the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art from Porto, Portugal, the Mediations Biennale 2008, in Poznan, Poland, amongst others. In 2009 she received the award “Bes Revelação 2009” and in 2007 she was selected for the award “Anteciparte 2007”.
