Anna Okrasko works with a wide range of media: video, installation and sculpture. Very often the starting point for her practice is a question of the possibilities for reclaiming the city’s public sphere by its inhabitants. She believes in the political potential of small gestures and private rituals performed within the city’s public spaces. For the last couple of years she has been exploring strategies for negotiating the public space by its citizens, celebrating it and shaping it freely.

Moreover she has explored the possibilities for interventions into urban daily life and modifications made to already existing ceremonies. In addition Okrasko has been investigating the idea of community set against manifestations of singularities. A notion of citizenship in opposition to the notion of nationhood is also relevant to her. At the moment she is investigating the idea of antagonism, which she finds present in a supposed neutrality of many urban public areas. She depicts this issue in her fictional documentaries. Moreover, Anna Okrasko is trying to investigate different formats for setting up platforms to allow the creative collaboration with other people.
